In this organ than, the act of improvisation. A tool to navigate not only when looking for harmony in a group during music making; but a tool to adapt to circumstances in life in general.
It brought me back to my work Room For Improvisation, a serie of concerts in the garden of the gallery our graduation show took place in. During that time, I delved into the work of George Lewis. I learned to trust my instinct when making. Improvisation is a practice but it’s also a force. That force is the unknown that unravels in front of you. It can be scary and it’s something to navigate with rather than try to swim against. A constant dynamic range that shifts.
